Social compliance is a highly complex issue. It is dealing with issues that are of grave importance to people’s lives. It is rooted in the ongoing struggle to bring fairness and dignity to workers. Corporations impact on human rights in significant ways. These impacts have increased over recent decades as the economic might and political influence of corporations have grown, and as corporations have become more involved in delivering services previously provided by governments.

What is Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)?

CSR is the result of compliance to the rules of social accountability by an organization including not only the organization's own policies and practices but also those of its supply and distribution chains. It is a continuing process in which they keep on looking for better ways to protect the health, safety, and fundamental rights of their employees, and to protect and enhance the community and environment in which they operate.

As a technology leader in the promotional industry, we are proud of our CSR certification report in which we have assessed our progress against our commitment to being a socially responsible business. We have found it a useful and thought-provoking exercise, and believe it represents our pledge to these concerns that are increasingly critical in the marketplace.

Human Rights – It’s not just a government responsibility

Human rights are relevant to the economic, social and environmental aspects of corporate activity. For example, labor rights requiring companies to pay fair wages affect the economic aspect. Human rights such as the right to non-discrimination are relevant to the social aspect. And the environmental aspects of corporate activity might affect a range of human rights, such as the right to clean drinking water.

So, while the primary responsibility for the enforcement of international human rights standards lies with national governments, there is a growing acceptance that corporations also have an important role to play.

At LogoIncluded, we believe that now more than ever it is crucial to close this gap and make respect for human rights as a core part of our corporate social responsibility. As a result, we do not employ nor subscribe to the use of child labor or forced labor at our manufacturing facility and will continue to encourage and remain a catalyst for other companies to address these global issues within their regions of operation.

Brief Overview

The Standard SA8000

The SA8000 standard (Social Accountability 8000) is based on the principles of international workplace norms contained within the ILO (International Labour Organisation) conventions, UN’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The fundamental focus of SA8000 is to improve working conditions around the world. This intent has pioneered the way forward for organisations to improve and demonstrate their corporate social responsibility (CSR) in regards basic human rights in the workplace.

The requirements of SA8000 are espoused within the following categories:

1. Child Labour: Ensure that child and under aged labour is not utilised
2. Forced and Compulsory Labour: Avoid the use of forced labour including prison or debt bondage labour
3. Health and Safety: Provide a safe and healthy work environment
4. Freedom of association and rights to collective bargaining -Respect the right to form and join trade unions and bargaining collectively
5. Discrimination: Prohibit discrimination in the workplace
6. Disciplinary Practices: Avoid the use of physical punishment, mental or verbal abuse
7. Working hours: Act in accordance with the applicable laws and industry standards
8. Remuneration: Provide wages that meet legal and industry standards and are sufficient to meet the basic need of workers and their families
9. Management Systems: Implement an effective management system to ensure that company policies comply with SA8000 requirements and other applicable laws and international standards

What is ISO9001 Quality Assurance?

ISO 9001 is a standardized form for a quality management system. ISO 9001 is maintained by ISO, the International Organization for Standardization, and is administered by accreditation and certification bodies. Some of the requirements in ISO 9001 (which is one of the standards in the ISO 9000 family) include:

• A set of procedures that cover all key processes in the business;
• Monitoring processes to ensure they are effective;
• Keeping adequate records;
• Checking output for defects, with appropriate and corrective action where necessary;
• Regularly reviewing individual processes and the quality system itself for effectiveness; and
• Facilitating continual improvement

Recycled Materials

At LogoIncluded, we believe in the commitment and shared responsibility of environmental conservation. One important way we contribute is through the use of recycled plastics and metals in our products. Recycling is an excellent way of saving energy and conserving the environment as plastic can take up to 500 years to decompose, and recycling one plastic bottle can save enough energy to power a 60-watt light bulb for three hours. We are proud to say that majority of our flash drives and many of our other technology units are made of 100% recycled plastic and metal. • We have retained Specialized Technology Resources (STR), organizations that have extensive experience and knowledge in the field of ethical compliance, to assist us with program development, education and training, and compliance monitoring.

As an original equipment manufacturer (OEM), we strive to adhere to the expectations set forth toward our social and environmental initiatives.
